About

So we're a couple of pool addicts living in Williamsburg who got sick of shooting pool at the same old places. The tables were shitty. The people there were assholes. We felt like weirdo regulars. When we'd be out with friends, we'd only want to go places where we could get a game in. We wanted to know where every table was in our neighborhood, and which were decent and which ones we should never go near. And we wanted to share our findings with other people like us. And shoot pool with them. Countless nights of scouring the streets of the 11211 later, here we are.

Welcome to Billiardsburg.

Our Mission:

Billiardsburg offers a complete directory of pool table locations in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, along with other information you might want to know, like what a game costs, what the table conditions are, and the kind of crowd you can expect.

Billiardsburg also promotes community among pool enthusiasts. We encourage you to share your pool experiences, give us feedback on the tables we feature, and create discussion with others. Billiardsburg hosts regular events for you to meet and play in a laidback setting. We believe pool can be social without the constraints and commitment of a league. Our events are always open to anyone interested.

Nice shot, good game.

Who We Are:

Karol Lu, Founder/Editor - Karol began shooting pool regularly in 2006, under the instruction of Matthew Bagdanoff. She has since joined a league, to Matt's dismay, and could be the team's most inconsistent player. On any given night, you can find her looking to get a game in, and either running the table or looking thoroughly devastated, and always refusing to play doubles. When not at the pool table, Karol enjoys cooking and hosting events, and has had numerous successes on the competitive cooking circuit. Karol has lived in Williamsburg longer than any reasonable person should.

Matthew Bagdanoff, Writer/Editor - Matthew began his pool playing days as a young child growing up in Oregon City, OR, where he and lifelong friend Michael McDaniel played on the pristine eight-foot table in the basement of Michael's parent's house. Matthew lost many games to Michael in those years, and Matthew still loses many games to him whenever he visits the Pacific Northwest, and it's not even funny anymore. The humiliation and self-loathing that resulted from nearly two decades of not being able to beat that fucker has spurred Matthew on to become the aggressive, short-tempered, distractable, and ultimately scatterbrained billiards player he is today.

Mike Calhoun, Web Design/Programmer - Mike occasionally played pool in his friend's basement growing up in Syracuse, NY and upon moving to Nashville, began frequenting the world famous Melrose Pool Hall up the road from his high school. He now plays somewhat regularly in Williamsburg, though despite this past he has shown no improvement at the game since the age of 13. An affinity for seeing friends and cheap whiskey keep him coming back.
